Todd and Drew had "The Talk"

No, I'm not talking about the sex talk, I'm referring to the "Santa" talk. I knew it had to be coming. He's 8 1/2 and very perceptive. It was only a matter of time before he started asking questions. I'm a bit surprised it hadn't happened before now. Todd told me about the conversation and it sounded like he did some good damage control. He says he thinks Drew still believes but still questions certain aspects of it. It makes me sad.....this could be our last Christmas where all 3 of my boys believe. There's just so much magic in it, I don't want him to lose any of that. And of course, once you figure out Santa, you figure out the Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy, etc. I just want him to be a kid and believe in all of that a little longer. I feel like he's trying so hard to grow up and I'm trying so hard to keep him from it.

It took me back to a time when my brother Nate was younger. I remember him talking with me and telling me that he knew Santa wasn't real but he wasn't going to let mom and dad know he knew that because he would get more presents this way. That's our Nate!

Oh Kel, the FIRST of the *talks*...
I too am dreading that~not too much time left for me either.
This is peanuts compared to the *talks* of the future-holy cr*p!

Be glad it took this long...Blake asked me the other day "Is Santa real or is he just a guy in a costume?" Now come on....he's 3 1/2! I made it through that one by saying well the guy at the mall that we see is his helper so he's just in the costume but Santa's real. He gave me one of his looks but seemed to buy it.

I don't make a big deal out of the Santa thing because I know when he does discover, he'll be mad with us for "lying" so the less we say, the better:)

By the way, I'm up right now because the lovely flu has hit me. All our kids are troopers because I have never thrown up so hard in my life before. TMI I know but o lord!

He's certainly growing up, isn't he? It won't be long and it'll be time for the real talk of talks. Yikes.

Joe was happy to have THAT talk with our kids to convince them there WASN'T a Santa...I'll go to my grave being mad at him for that. Eric was the first to deny the jolly elf, Cody was in Nate mode...knew but was NEVER going to admit if for fear of being dropped of the gift getting list, but Adam needed a lot of convincing. You see he asked for Snow for Christmas one year, and wouldn't you know, he got it. Plus he didn't think Joe and I had nearly enough money for a PlayStation. Ah the joys of parenthood.

As for that other Talk....I could Never convince Joe that was HIS place to talk to his boys....Ah the joys of marriage.

I told each of my girls after Christmas and before Easter when they were in the third grade. The best years for Christmas are when Santa is coming to your house.

Santa still comes to our house too...and if you don't believe me come by on 12/24 to see what he is bringing me!(hint: it's coming from NY)
