My Little Veterinarian

Noah's love of animals is no secret. Ever since he took the veterinarian class at children's college last summer with Dr Klingele, he's been wanting to go volunteer. Yesterday he and Todd went to Klingele Vet Clinic and he got to work for 2 hours. He absolutely loved it. I'm glad because I really want to go with him next time!! :)

Unfortunately Todd only took two pictures when they were there. In the first he had just finished cleaning out the rabbit cages and is now feeding them some celery. In the second, he's looking through the microscope at a sample from a cats' ear to determine if it had ear mites. What's the verdict Noah?

His first job when he got there was to scoop the dog poop up out of the pens. You would think that would have turned him right off but no, Todd said he took the scooper and went to work. Did you know there is such a thing as a hairless dog? Noah got to see one of those. He also got to watch a dog get his teeth cleaned, watched a cat have surgery (he was too upset by that one), and one of his favorite parts was sitting in on an appointment with 3 ferrets. He now wants one. Love ya Noah, but not gonna happen. We're at pet capacity at this house! It was such an amazing learning experience for him and it gave him a good taste of what a job as a veterinarian all entailed. He said he still wants to be one someday. I'm also proud of him for wanting to donate his time and for being such a good little worker. I hope he does it again one day soon. We've thought of volunteering at the Quincy Humane Society too. All that time with the cats and dogs would make us very happy!

Good Job Noah!!!
Anytime you want to scoop poop just call.
We can't keep up with these 2 animals here.

That's really cool. If you have a local zoo, check with them too. When I was in late junior high/high school, I volunteered at my zoo. I spent most of my time scooping poop too, but after paying my dues, I was able to volunteer in the nursery and walked in some days to hear, "Your job today is to play with the baby lions." (Which is, without question, the BEST JOB IN THE ENTIRE WORLD.)

So cool that Noah has found something he really likes.
