Luckily the bugs in my house aren't alive.....at least not anymore!! Drew had to make a bug collection for school last friday. The boys had been looking for bugs to put in their bug boxes all summer so it didn't take much coaxing to get them out searching again. Unfortunately we had to put some of those bugs to an untimely death. Thank goodness for Todd. I helped the best I could but couldn't touch those bugs. Blech. They could make a display however they wanted....an egg carton, shoe box, anything. Drew, being the creative kid he is, looked around Hobby Lobby with me one day and got a great idea to use a shadow box. I had that awesome 40% coupon so I spent about $2.50 on it and he bought a sheet of adhesive foam to put on the bottom. We mounted the bugs on there using pins from my sewing box. Here are the bugs before we put them in the shadow box.
Here they are in the shadow box. Sorry for the blurry picture but you can get an idea of what the box looks like.
I had recess duty at school Friday so I got to look at all of the bug collections. There were some really interesting bugs, some of them big enough to give me nightmares. Remember the Mutant Moth? I think I saw his brother.

Good job Drew....good variety of bugs. and great display....and I am sure your Mom is glad it is all over!
Very nice Drew*!*
Great job Drew, your bug display was most likely the best one. I LOVED doing bug collections and leaf collections in school, which we seemed to do most every year.
Wow, great job Drew. Impressive display ready to be hung in a museum.
I signed up for recess duty too. ;)
Very nice! I'm impressed!!
Alex has a "dead bug collection". People from all over bring him dead bugs to add to it! Kind of creepy but he loves it.
Eww. Bugs. Yuck.
I really don't like bugs but I still look at that and think, "Aww. Poor bugs."
I'm such a sucker.
Wow!Great collection!
I wouldn't touch them either thou!LOL!
Oh...about Eric being possessive!...Guess what?!Of course he is!LOL!He says I'm his!Not daddy's nor his brothers!Just his!And he gets really angry when people say otherwise!
xoxo
KELLY. NOT OK. Not ok at all!! They look much much better locked in that shadow box. or under a fly swatter. but I'm just sayin'...
ewwwwwwwww... I'm NOT a bug girl... any guesses on what the boys LOVE to go find???
great display of your bugs!
