We had to take the boys shoe shopping the other day. Aiden was ready for a size 9, Noah had outgrown his soccer shoes and a new season was starting, and Drew's shoes, which weren't very old, looked like they had gone through WWIII. I assumed Drew would still need a 4 or 4 1/2 but they were too small. We measured his foot and he needed a size 5. No big deal....I look up and realize the kids section ends at 4 1/2 and then we are to the womens shoes. Hmmm, that's wierd. I'm looking around trying to find a size 5 when it hits me like a ton of bricks. The size 5 is over IN THE MEN'S SECTION. I think I felt a little faint, honestly. Sure enough, there is a sign that says Men's Size 5. When did this happen?? To make it worse, the size 5 sandals he tried on fit perfectly but the shoes were too small. I couldn't find them in a 5 1/2 and when Drew suggested a 6, I just couldn't even go there. I had to leave. Luckily we found him some shoes later in the day in a size 5.

Reality Check Please
When you look at this picture you probably see a handsome, grown up looking 9 year old holding his cat. But when I look at it, most of the time..............

Is Drew sitting on Rascal....and Rascal letting him? Now as soon as a car hits the drive-Rascal is off. I hope Drew's body keeps up with his feet
Wow, I know what you mean though we just went shoe shopping for my three and Alex is in a size 4 now... way too close to the men sizes! I was looking at a size 2 and he was like "Umm Mom, those are never gonna fit me. That's Ethan's size". They are all growing so fast. :0
By the way, he is a very handsome young man. :)
Welcome to the new phase of motherhood....it involves a lot of looking back and wondering where the time went. Wait until Drew is in his own home with 3 kids and a cat of his own....Then you'll know how your mom feels.
Time flies
we get older
they do too...so hard to believe.
He's such a handsome, sweet little man*!*
ohhh, my greatest sympathies! :)
Oh, what a sweet and sad post - it does fly by doesn't it?!
Have a good evening, Kelly - see you soon - Kellan
Drew is growing up fast! At least he's your oldest! I was in shock when Suzie turned 13. I looked in the mirror and said, "You are the mother of a TEENAGER", which seemed impossible. I was too young! (39) Now I know I WAS YOUNG. I enjoy your blog Kelly!
I'm sure that was bittersweet for sure! The pictures are too cute.
BTW...I can't believe Aiden wears a 9! Ty JUST moved to 7's & Blake is in 10 1/2!
Thanks for sharing the Xopenex:)
Aw, I can totally relate. ((hugs))
Kara's feet are only a half size smaller than mine right now!
Awww. That makes me teary. It just catches you out of nowhere, doesn't it?
Sweet post.
So funny, I know what you mean though, Britain and I wear the same shoe size now...LOL
